Stevie’s Easter parade pays off for children’s charity
BIG-HEARTED Stevie McCormick has thanked everyone who supported him on his ‘egg-cellent’ adventure, writes Colin Cameron.
Together with a few biker pals, Stevie met up with fellow bikers from all over Scotland at Glasgow Green on March 16 before heading to Glasgow Children’s Hospital, formerly known as the Southern General, for its annual Easter Egg Run – a cause which Stephen has supported for many years.
Stevie, a well-known face at MacLeod Construction Ltd, raised £665 for the hospital.
He said: ‘I want to thank everyone who supported me and who donated.
‘Particular thanks to Lesley Boyle at Dalriada Signs for donating hi-vis vests and stickers for our bikes.’
He continued: ‘The weather was wet, wet, wet, but the craic was great, and it was all worthwhile.’
Stevie has been raising money for the charity for years, but his own family recently experienced the great work carried out by the hospital and its staff’s first hand.
‘My wee granddaughter was treated in the hospital,’ Stevie explained, ‘and it’s only when you experience the tremendous level of care first hand that you really appreciate how good it is.’
In a letter of thanks, Kirsten Sinclair of the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity said: ‘Your generosity will help us to fund enhanced medical equipment, pioneering research, innovative play programmes and family support services.’
