Exhibition opening

A FORD artist is exhibiting her work in Lochgilphead for the next couple of weeks.

MID ARGYLL’S reputation as a burgeoning hub of creativity has been further enhanced by the opening of a new exhibition.

Featuring an intriguing mix of media, artist Inge Bos’s mesmerising collection of artwork, entitled

Sweet Spot, is being exhibited at the gallery in the Dochas Carers Centre.

The exhibition opened on Friday evening, May 12, with local artists gathering in the Dochas gallery to get a first glimpse of the new works. Inge Bos is one of a number of artists over the years to collaborate with the Dochas Centre and was pleased to contribute to such a creative community project.

Inge said: ‘It’s a really nice space and I’m privileged to be exhibiting in the gallery here. I’m so glad so many friends and fellow artists have been able to make the opening and see my work on display for the first time.’

Hailing from the Netherlands, Inge now lives in Ford with her small family where, in between running a busy guesthouse, she manages to find enough time and space to work on her art. ‘We’re very busy through the summer with the guesthouse,’ said Inge, ‘so I do most of my painting and drawing in the winter. Some of the works in this exhibition have already featured at Artmap and in Glasgow last year but all of the ink drawings are new.’

Discussing the artwork itself, Inge explained: ‘I’m interested in creating pictures and images that can change and transform depending on the eye of the viewer, so I’ve tried to use elements and materials that give an impression of fluidity.’

She continued: ‘I decided to use wooden panels as a canvas to try to create a more layered, textural piece as the paint stains the wood in an interesting fashion.’

Inge’s Sweet Spot exhibition in the Dochas Carers Centre runs until May 27 and is open Monday to Friday, 10am until 5pm.

The Artmap Argyll open studio event, which features dozens of local artists, will take place in the last weekend of August.
