Mixed bag for Tarbert golfers in adverse conditions
POOR overhead conditions did not help scoring for the second round of the President’s Cup last Saturday at Tarbert Golf Club.
The weather probably contributed to the poor turnout of members for what was once a flagship competition for the club.
In the competition itself, Iain Macalister pipped Keith Blair with a better inward half to take first place with a 73. Chris Smyth was a further shot back on 74, with John MacNab on 75. The following players qualified for the knockout stages: JS MacNab, I Macalister, K Blair, D Johnstone, C Smyth, M McAlpine, G McCaffery.
This Saturday sees the ‘wee Joe’ MacFarlane Memorial Shield take place with the event being open to members, guests and non-golfers.
There will be a shotgun start at 11am, so everyone wishing to play is asked to turn up in plenty of time and be on the tee for 11am.
Tarbert ladies had more luck with the conditions on the Sunday as they welcomed the Carradale Ladies to Glenralloch for their annual matchplay competition, the Tarcarra Cup.
The sun shone for most of the matches although the last few unfortunate teams did have some hailstones to contend with.
This didn’t put the ladies off and they continued to finish their matches with Tarbert regaining the trophy with four wins to two.
Everyone enjoyed the day and finished off having a delicious dinner in the Anchor Hotel.
