Tarbert turns out for ‘Wee Joe’ Memorial Shield
THIRTY six players gathered at Tarbert Golf Club last Saturday to take part in the ‘Wee Joe’ MacFarlane Memorial Shield, an event organised by the MacFarlane family.
There was a mixture of weather conditions to contend with but the sun shone on the golfers for the final hour of play.
Iain Johnstone junior, from across the bay at West Loch Tarbert, finished first with a total of 41 stableford points including an outrageous eagle two at the tenth. Iain was adjacent to the green with his tee shot and duly chipped in for the eagle.
In second place, on 40 points, was John MacNab. John was a model of consistency all day with his pair of 34s giving him a two over par 68.
In third place was last year’s winner Keith Blair who put up a gallant defence of his title with 38 points.
Longest drive at the second was from Kenny MacFarlane and closest to the pin at the eighth was Bruce MacNab - seven 1/4 inches.
The non golfer award went to Paul West who had 33 points and closed with a great birdie on 18.
Thanks go to the MacFarlane family for superb organisation of the event and to everyone who contributed to making the day such a success.
This Saturday the Fishermen’s Cup takes place at Glenralloch. Members are asked to gather at 12.30pm to enter the draw which will take place at 12.45pm.
