Axes at the ready for Viking Festival

GET SET for the upcoming Viking invasion at a special Viking workshop in Inveraray.

With Loch Fyne Viking Festival just around the corner, July 6, a one-off Viking workshop will be held in Nicol Hall in Inveraray this Saturday to help make beards, axes and shields to take along to the Nordic celebratio­n.

The Viking Festival programme will start in Inveraray on July 6 at 11am, with the longships arriving in the royal burgh at noon. The Viking programme in Inveraray will continue at least until 3pm, however, before moving on to Lochgilphe­ad the next day.

From Lochgilphe­ad, the Vikings will move on to Tarbert on Saturday where in the evening there will be a community barbecue and family ceilidh at the festival marquee.

In anticipati­on of the Viking landings, families are encouraged to get along to the Viking workshop this Saturday June 24 to get geared up for the big day.

The workshop will be from 10.30am until 3.30pm in Nicol Hall. It is 50p per person and under-12s must be accompanie­d by an adult.
