Nothing separates leading Lochgilphead golfers

-

THE GENTS’ championship got under way at Lochgilphead Golf Club on Saturday with a good turn-out of members hoping to get their name on the winners’ board.

Joint leaders on day one were the lesser spotted Adrian Angus and Robbie Wilson. Adrian doesn’t play many competitions but comes up trumps when needed as he proved with a net score of 59, while Robbie also returned a net 59 playing his usual sure and steady game. Ross Sinclair was in third place with a net 61 but took home the seniors trophy which was handed out on day one because Adrian and Robbie are both juniors.

Day two saw Robbie slip down the leaderboard due to a disaster at the 15th, resulting in a score of seven for the hole and a net 62. Adrian and Ross then became joint leaders on the day, both returning a net 59 but it is all still to play for next weekend. Tee off times for next weekend will be published in the clubhouse during the week.

The ladies, meanwhile, played a nine-hole competition which Jane Hepburn won with 18 points beating Margaret MacKinnon by two points. Unfortunately, due to the amount of water on the course on Friday the junior competition was cancelled and will be rescheduled.
