Prizes handed out at Tarbert Academy
PARENTS, pupils, staff and other members of the community came together on Thursday June 29 to celebrate the achievements of Tarbert Academy pupils
Head Teacher Neil McKnight took the opportunity to say how proud he was of the school, its pupils and staff and also the way the community is working with the school to help enrich the curriculum.
Mr McKnight highlighted the huge number of activities on offer this year, adding that an increase in opportunities for community engagement has helped to enhance the education of the pupils.
Mr McKnight continued: ‘The school is very happy with the SQA attainment results from last year, with some outstand individual performances, and I am expecting another good set of results this year.’
Guest of honour, former teacher Liz MacMacFarlane Nab, gave a speech in which she explained why she thought that Tarbert Academy is such a great school.
She said that staff, pupils and parents all contribute to the excellent school ethos.
There were speeches from last year’s school captain, Becky Wilkieson, the new captain, Gaia Silvan, and vice captain Beth Atkinson.
As a tribute to French teacher and head of faculty Mrs Christine Inglis, who is retiring after 30 years at Tarbert Academy, the pupils gave a moving rendition of Parting is such sweet sorrow.
Liz MacNab presented prizes to the prize winners, including the primary dux which went to Kyle Hamlin and the senior dux which went to Isaac Stanesby.
