Great year for Mid Argyll swimmers

-

AFTER a successful year in the pool, the MACPool Dolphins held their end-of-year awards ceremony last week. The young team of swimmers gathered at the Mid Argyll Community Pool on Thursday for a prize-giving ceremony to mark the end of the swimming year. David Danson from club sponsor Landcatch was on hand to help club coach Arlene Green present the winning swimmers with their awards.

Ms Green praised the commitment of the swimmers and announced that to her surprise, despite missing two gala days this year, the overall point tallies were higher than last year.

She said: ‘This has been a great year for the club, with some great individual performances and a hugely successful swimathon.

This is the most number of members we’ve had at the Dolphins, with 30 swimmers in the club this year.’

Megan Danson won the special contribution award for the highest points tally of the group, with 584 points, while Euan Gilmour also got a special contribution award for gaining 558 points.

Ruby Bosomworth was presented with the contribution award, while Lorne Barrie was was awarded a contribution award. He was not in attendance.

Ruby and Lorne were club captains this year and their hard work and commitment was rewarded with a certificate and gift voucher.

To round off the presentations, Tom West was named swimmer of the month for June.
