Tarbert glass engraver a hit with Outlander fans

-

A TALENTED glass engraver from Mid Argyll has been by attracting some attention across the Atlantic for her intricate glassware after it appeared on the hit US TV series Outlander.

Tarbert glass engraver Wilma MacKenzie had been contacted by a prop manager from the Outlander production team and was given only a few weeks to create the etchings on the Jacobite glasses, which were used by characters in season two of the TV series.

Oblivious to the popularity of the TV show in the US, Wilma was surprised to be contacted by Anne Gavin, a senior writer of a popular fanzine blog for

Outlander, who wanted to learn more about her involvement in the show. Anne had been told about Wilma’s work by a Scottish friend and the trio met up while Anne was visiting Scotland on an

Outlander tour. Writing about Wilma in her latest blog update, Anne said: ‘I was absolutely blown away with Wilma’s story about her involvement with Outlander, not to mention her exquisite work. She brought some of the original art she used to create the glasses as well as examples of some of her other work. It recalls once again; how wonderful Outlander has been for local artisans and businesses in Scotland. It was such a pleasure to meet Wilma and hear her Outlander story.’ To read the full blog post that features Wilma, go to outlandercastblog.blogspot. co.uk.
