Dreams come true at first Kilmartin Horse Show
Spacious rings and unique scenic backdrop
KILMARTIN Fields was the perfect venue for the first Kilmartin Horse Show organised by Argyll South Pony Club and British Showjumping (Argyll and Bute).
Not even the intermittent drizzle on Saturday July 29 could dampen spirits as competitors enjoyed showing and showjumping classes with the spacious rings and unique scenic backdrop of Sheila MacCallum’s fields.
The three judges – Melanie Scott, Sheila Thom and Rosemary Brown – praised the setting and organisation as well as the standard of competition in their respective rings.
Organisers Anne McArthur, Sheila MacCallum and Liz Macnab were delighted with the response and turnout on the day for this new event in the Argyll equestrian calendar.
Kate McIntyre from Benderloch, with her pony Kaydene, won the Shane Trophy – presented by the Geddes family – in the Working Hunter Championship, and Campbeltown vet Marije Terpstra and Mini took the O-Fish-Shell salver as reserve.
In the Riding/Pony Club Horse/Pony Class Championship local rider Toni Stewart and Affane Lass won the McArthur Salver and Kate Mcintyre with Kaydene added the Joker Plate to their spoils as reserve.
The jumping classes had big challenging courses as they were built and judged under British Showjumping Club rules but Argyll riders relished the challenge and spectators were treated to stylish, exciting rounds over the colourful revamped Pony Club show jumps.
The committee thanked all the sponsors who provided marvellous prizes and rosettes and a huge vote of thanks also goes to all stewards and helpers on the day who helped create a friendly and supportive atmosphere.
