Splash of colour at charity fashion show
A FASHION show at Lochgilphead Joint Campus has raised £1,168 to provide care for terminally ill patients in Argyll.
The fashion show, organised by the Mid Argyll Marie Curie fundraising group, took place on Monday September 4.
The amount raised is the equivalent to 50 hours of care by Marie Curie nurses for terminally ill patients across Argyll.
Prices of clothes, shoes and bags were slashed by almost half as the packed hall saw models Chloe Hebb and Nicola Meldrum rock the catwalk.
The clothes were provided by Colours Fundraising Fashion Shows, which returned to Mid Argyll with some of the country’s favourite brands, such as Marks and Spencers, Topshop and Urban Outfitters.
Designer clothes were also on offer, with shoes by top designer Karen Millen available at a fraction of their retail price.
Organiser Jenny Brolly said fundraising for Marie Curie was vital, especially in Mid Argyll where patients had to travel far to get the care they need.
‘The Mid Argyll fundraising group raises money for care by Marie Curie nurses for people in their own homes in the area with terminal illness.
‘It gives people the choice of being nursed at home, by Marie Curie’s nurses, and that’s very important in this area because we are so far away from hospitals that can provide specific care. If patients have to go to Glasgow, it’s very far away.
‘The group has been growing for almost five years. We are raising the profile of Marie Curie successfully in the area and we are very proud to be able to do that.’
