Bonfire bonanza to light up Lochgilphead and Tarbert
MID ARGYLL is gearing up for bonfire night, with celebrations in Tarbert on Friday November 3 and in Lochgilphead on Saturday November 4 offering family fun.
Organised by Mid Argyll Round Table, Lochgilphead’s celebrations will kick-off at 6pm with a performance from Mid Argyll band None the Wiser. The outdoor performance will be the last public appearance for drummer David Bracken, as he hangs up his sticks to concentrate on managing The Old Manse in Kilmartin.
Vocalist Jo Smith said: ‘ This will be the third time we’ve been the warm-up act for the display and it’s our opportunity to give something back to everyone who supports us.
‘ We play for nothing so the Round Table can save its pennies for the fireworks.’
Following the band’s performance, the bonfire is due to be lit at 7.15pm with 30 minutes of fireworks starting at 7.30pm.
Lanterns created at Artmap and Ignite Lochgilphead workshops will be on display and there will also be fairground rides.
The bonfire and fireworks display in Lochgilphead is entirely funded by local businesses and donations on the night.
Tarbert’s bonfire celebrations will kick off at 6.30pm at the outdoor gym with a performance by newly-formed Loch Fyne Pipe Band.
The bonfire will be lit at 7pm, with a new location at The Beilding.
Refreshments are available at both the outdoor gym and at the fire station. Fundraising for next year’s bonfire will take place on the night.
