Lights, cameras, action for world champions
THE WORLD’S best pipe band led the parade to Inveraray’s war memorial in the morning ahead of a moving act of Remembrance more on that elsewhere in this edition.
But the afternoon of Sunday November 12 had a more showbiz feel.
BBC Scotland came to the Loch Fyneside town on a gorgeously bright autumn afternoon with snow-capped hills as a backdrop.
Reigning Grade One world champions Inveraray and District Pipe Band were the focus for the TV crew, which had travelled from Glasgow to capture the champions in action - amid Argyll’s stunning scenery.
The footage will be used as a two-and-a half minute long recorded section of the BBC’s live Hogmanay show.
Executive produc- er of Hogmanay Live Graham Mitchell told the Advertiser: ‘We had a great experience filming with Inveraray and District on Sunday.
‘It’s great to feature the world champions on our Hogmanay Live TV show this year. We’ve followed their progress for some time during our own coverage of the World Pipe Band Championships.
‘The whole crew really enjoyed the afternoon’s filming and we received a really warm welcome from everyone we met.
‘The film will show a great musical performance in one of the most beautiful locations in Scotland, what better way to see out the old year and welcome in the new?’
