Sports hubs offered cash for new activities
SPORTS hubs in Argyll and Bute could benefit from a £5,000 cash injection thanks to a GO LIVE! new legacy fund.
Europe’s top athletes are coming to Scotland in August to compete in the Glasgow 2018 European Championships.
To mark the occasion the Scottish Government, through sportscotland, is investing £500,000 to support the delivery of a sporting legacy for communities across Scotland.
A one-off investment of up to £5,000 will be made to successful applicants, and hubs from across Scotland are encouraged to collaborate and be creative when thinking about what they want to deliver.
Priority will be given to projects that engage people from Scotland’s most deprived communities, and identifying and training local volunteers to deliver the new sessions will play an important part in ensuring the activities are sustainable.
A second GO LIVE! strand will offer local volunteers the chance to participate in a tailored leadership programme.
The GO LIVE! portal is live on the sportscotland website offering help and information to community sports hubs interested in applying.
Applications are open now and successful applicants will receive their investment in April to ensure that activities are up and running by the end of May 2018.
There are currently five community sports hubs in Argyll and Bute, in Rothesay, Cowal, Oban and Lorn, Tiree and Helensburgh and Lomond.
