Red Star hit Duntocher for six

-

RED STAR travelled to Singer Park, Clydebank on Saturday March 31 to play Duntocher Hibs in this league clash and returned home with all three points after dominating large spells of the match.

The visitors were keen to get on the front foot early and were ahead after only three minutes when Kieran Moore’s looping shot beat the Duntocher keeper from just outside the box. Star looked to keep the pressure up and got into some excellent positions but a mixture of wasteful finishing and some excellent goalkeeping from the Hibs number one ensured Star’s lead remained a fragile one.

Kieran Moore capitalised on a slack back pass from the Duntocher defender and the striker kept his composure to fire his shot past the Hibs keeper and double the Star lead before half time to 0-2.

Once again, Star got off to an excellent start in the second half.

This time Ben Forbes was rewarded for a terrific run as Star broke.

Innes Meikle was unfortunate to see his effort cannon back off the bar but the ball fell kindly to Ben Forbes who melted the ball home from close range with a controlled finish to effectively end the match as a contest.

Star were starting to dominate the midfield area with Aaron Moore pulling the strings despite some robust tackling from the Duntocher side, who never gave in throughout the 90 minutes.

Kieran Moore completed his hat trick with half an hour remaining as he slotted home after a nice passing move.

Martin Bonar was next to strike for Star as he added to his tally for the season to put Star 0-5 ahead which was just reward for another energetic display.

The home side got themselves on the scoresheet straight from kick-off as some sloppy play allowed the Duntocher midfielder to burst through and net a consolation much to the frustration of the star backline who had been otherwise untroubled.

Kieran Moore was involved again in the final goal of the game, however, the unfortunate Duntocher defender was credited with an own goal as he could only tackle Moore and put the ball into his own net as Star ran out the winners.
