Loch Fyne Oysters celebrates 40 years with its Fyne at 40 weekend

- More details at www.lochfyne.com/ news-and-events

In 1978 local landowner Johnny Noble and marine biologist Andy Lane began farming oysters in the clear waters of Loch Fyne and selling them from a shed beside the A83. On the evening of Friday 11 May this year a ceilidh will take place followed by a spectacular fireworks show over the Loch. This will be followed by a special ‘Fyne at Forty’ weekend festival to mark the company’s 40th anniversary. Over the two-day ‘Fyne at Forty’ event, festival goers will be given access to areas normally closed to the public, such as the oyster sheds where every oyster is graded, purified and hand-checked for freshness before being despatched to customers around the world. There will be tours of nearby historic Ardkinglas House, and you can test your chef skills in our oyster shucking competition or practise your navigation with our treasure hunt amidst the fantastic Loch Fyne scenery. Children can get their faces painted before being entertained with musical activities and grown-ups can unwind with demonstrations from top chefs as well as wine and whisky tastings. There will be great food available, and great music to enjoy in the entertainment beer marquee. On Saturday evening (12 May) join us for an unmissable evening with iconic Scottish duo Hue and Cry. With a limited number of tickets available this is a rare opportunity to enjoy an intimate gig in a truly stunning location at the Loch Fyne Oyster Bar. Your ticket includes Loch Fyne buffet with an array of dishes to suit all.
