Argyll’s only boarding school opens doors to interested families
Lomond School is a small, family school for pupils aged three to 18, positioned in the elegant suburbs of the coastal town of Helensburgh, located only 10 minutes from Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. Learning at Lomond is a rich experience with our curriculum and timetabling model allowing for a large degree of flexibility and personalisation. With a very strong academic record, 91% pass rate at National 5 and 78% of pupils at Higher achieving an A or B grade in 2017, we pride ourselves on supporting and nurturing our young people to achieve their very best. While there is an emphasis on academic pursuits, we passionately believe that education should be about supporting our young people to develop and grow, both academically and personally, as rounded individuals with strong values who are prepared not just for the present but also for the future. Living at Lomond as a boarder is an enriching experience and the boarding house adds a distinctive dimension to the school. We welcome borders from the age of nine, some of whom will stay with us throughout their school career and others who will join us for a part of their educational experience. Our boarding house, Burnbrae, is a purposebuilt, modern building separate from the main school campus. It offers a home away from home and is designed to ensure that pupils have a busy and rewarding life. All our pupils are treated as individuals and our staff actively support their personal, social and educational development. Our team is strengthened by resident house-parents, teachers, tutors, matrons and a school nurse. We offer short-term, weekly and full-time termly boarding and are happy to work around individual family circumstances. To get a better understanding of what Lomond School can offer your child, please join us for our boarding open morning on Thursday June 7.
