Pleasant conditions for Fyne Tankard

PLEASANT overhead conditions greeted the players for the second round of the Fyne Tankard on Saturday April 21 at Glenralloc­h, Tarbert.

Calum McLean started the day with a fourstroke lead and added another solid round to give him a total of 128 net.

With the target set, the afternoon players knew what they had to beat but, despite some valiant efforts, Calum ran out a comfortabl­e winner by seven shots to take the first silverware of the season.

Next best net scores on the day were from Malcolm McAlpine on 69 and Eric McDougall on 70.

Best scratch scores were from Bruce MacNab on 72, Iain MacAlister on 73 and Chris Smyth on 77.

There will be no gents’ competitio­n this Saturday, April 28, with the Nancy Glen Open taking place the following weekend on Saturday May 5 for both ladies and gents.

Tee times are still available in the 8am to 9am ballot and some from 2.20pm to 3pm. If you wish to play, then please call the clubhouse on 01880 820565.

The club will also be auctioning four-balls at Pollok, Murcar, Fortrose and Rosemarkie, Barassie, Hilton Park, West Kilbride and the Carrick.
