May sale of cattle and sheep at Dalmally Mart

THE ANNUAL May sale of all classes of cattle and sheep was held by United Auctions at Dalmally Auction Mart.

A total of 362 cattle and 209 head of all classes of sheep were sold at the auction on Saturday May 5. Bullocks sold to average 249.19 pence per kilo or £790 per head while heifers levelled out at 235.5 pence per kilo or £734 per head.

Auchlyne’s consignment of Charolais bullocks sold to a top of £1,040 while the top price per kilo in this section came from Brough with Simmental crosses which sold to 318p per kilo. Heifers from Clachan, Tiree sold to £1,100 per head whilst Keilator’s Simmental heifers led this section per kilo at 294 pence.
