High school girls enjoy Scottish rugby initiative
SECONDARY school pupils from Lochgilphead High enjoyed a #BeTheBestYou rugby taster session on Tuesday April 24.
There was a high number of girls from S1-3 who signed up to take part in the new Scottish Rugby initiative, with 24 pupils having a go at the sport.
The campaign is part of a larger project currently being rolled out by Scottish Rugby across 11 local authorities including Argyll and Bute.
The session was sup- ported by the West Regional Women and Girls Development Officer Jen Miller and Scottish Rugby Women and Girls Projects and Partnerships manager Caitlyn Haldayne.
The opportunity to have a go at rugby was brought to the school by Argyll and Bute Rugby Development Officer Allan Wright.
Live Argyll would like to thank the Lochgilphead High School PE department for their ongoing support towards the development of rugby within the school.
Active Schools coordinator Eilidh MacPherson said: ‘If any pupil from P4-S6 is interested in joining the Mid Argyll Rugby Club, come along to training on Tuesdays at 4pm. The club is always looking for more volunteers too.
‘Volunteers can fit into many different roles such as first aiders, supervisors, assistant coaches or coaches. Please speak to one of the club coaches on a Tuesday evening to find out more.’
