Busy time on the golf course

-

LOCHGILPHEAD golf course was a busy place to be last weekend, with the gents competing over two days for the Anne Williams shield, and the ladies competing for the Centenary Cup.

Day one saw Ryan McGlynn leading with 36 points, with secretary Douglas Whyte following close behind with 35 points. Ryan was unable to play on day two and Grant McDougall had an excellent score with 36 points – but not quite enough to overtake Douglas who beat Grant over the two rounds by one point to lift the shield for this year.

The ladies had a depleted turnout, but Margaret MacKinnon was definitely back on her game following her injury last year as she returned a score of 65 strokes. Margaret beat Kathleen Young by three strokes to win the Centenary Cup.

The juniors played for their May medal on Friday, with Kern McKellar the victor scoring an excellent 18 points.

This weekend the juniors play in their ninehole eclectic competition tonight (Friday May 11) while the ladies and gents have their competitions on Sunday May 13.

There will be a Fun Texas Scramble coming up on the Thursday May 17 which any members are encouraged to play in, handicap or not.

It will be a bit of fun on the course followed by a light supper. To enter put your name on the sheet on the board or let Ele know on 07714 233006. The competition is open to ladies, gents and juniors.
