ARGYLL and Bute Council has announced the projects in Mid Argyll, Kintyre and Islay that will receive funding from the Supporting Communities Fund.

Voting closed at midnight on Monday April 30, and the projects which will receive funding will be Blarbuie Woodland Enterprise, Community Bus Running Costs, Community Regatta, Fèis an Tairbeirt, Islay and Jura Youth Wind Band, Islay House Community Garden, Kintyre Youth Cafe, Loch Fyne Pipe Band, Save Our Lunch Club, Tarbert – Our Castle of Kings, Tarbert Academy Forest Friends Wildlife, Heritage Youth Activities, and the Youth Brass Championships.

The remaining money will be offered to the group which was next in line to receive funding but could not be fully funded.

The council’s policy lead for communities, Councillor Robin Currie: ‘We would like to thank everyone who submitted an application, and all those who took the time to vote – 4,500 of you.

‘This year we have piloted a new approach and encouraged the people of Argyll and Bute to decide what projects should receive funding.

‘The process was part-funded by the Scottish Government’s Community Choices programme and will help inform our approach to involving communities in making financial decisions in the future.

‘This fund is all about our communities and this money will make a huge difference to community groups and organisations throughout the area.’
