Limmy crosses top UA Oban sale
UNITED Auctions held its annual May sale of all classes cattle and sheep at Oban Livestock Centre on Tuesday May 15.
A much increased entry on the year saw 217 head of cattle sold and 590 sheep, which attracted a large following of buyers, resulting in a satisfactory day’s trading for all sellers.
Bullocks sold to an average of 254.15 pence per kilo or £709.38 per head while heifers levelled out at 221.96 pence per kilo or £661.55.
The top bullock prices were 317.1 pence per kilo for Limousin crosses from Messrs Buchanan, Achnaba, and £1,100 per head, also for Limousin crosses, from Messrs Campbell, Achnacreebeag.
Heifers sold to 282.3 pence per kilo for Limousin crosses from Achnacreebeag and to £945 per head from the same home.
Breeding cattle from Mr G MacCormick, Annet, sold to £1,700.
In the sheep section, ewes with lambs at foot from Messrs McCorkindale, Scammadale, sold to £135. Mule hoggs from Mr D MacDonald, Tyree sold to £96.
