First Milk denies creamery talks
A RELIABLE source has claimed First Milk, which is selling Campbeltown Creamery, has held talks with a Stirling firm.
Robert Graham of Graham’s The Family Dairy, based in Stirling, told the Argyllshire
Advertiser this week that its own plans for a massive extension are paramount and it has not had ‘time to consider other opportunities’.
Mr Graham said: ‘As a Scottish family dairy business, we are committed to Scottish dairy industry and the fantastic products that this country produces. We haven’t had time to consider if there are opportunities given First Milk’s announcement on their Scottish creameries.
‘We have invested significantly in the Scottish dairy industry over the past few years.
‘It is well known we have plans to make the largest investment in the Scottish dairy industry in more than a generation at a new site in Stirling. Frustratingly, these plans are still on appeal at Scottish Government.’
A First Milk spokesperson said: ‘We will not comment on speculation regarding discussions with any potential purchasers of our Scottish creameries.
‘We have a number of parties we are in discussion with and remain committed to finding a buyer who will invest and provide the right focus, ultimately securing a positive future for the business.’
