Jazz in the Village comes to Tayvallich
Tayvallich Village Hall will become a jazz club for the night on Friday June 15 when it hosts jazz duo Ian Millar and Dominic Spencer as part of a ‘Jazz in the Village’ series of concerts.
Ian on saxophone and Dominic on piano play melodic improvisations of jazz standard and original compositions. Their style of jazz concentrates on developing melodies within the framework of a tune, while maintaining the concept and groove behind it.
The result is an accessible melodic style that allows them to explore, improvise and develop ideas without losing the essence of each piece of music and to interact together creatively.
Ian and Dominic are based in Edinburgh and have had enormous success over many years at the city’s Fringe Festival and have regularly toured throughout the UK.
They have embarked on many rural tours under the ‘Jazz in the Village’ banner, playing in hundreds of halls, often bringing jazz for the first time to isolated communities, performing in intimate settings to appreciative audiences.
The beautiful Scottish scenery they have seen on their travels has inspired Ian to write many pieces of music. The duo is keen to encourage the next generation of jazz aficionados so admission is free for under 16s if accompanied by an adult.
Doors open at 7.30pm. Admission is £10 at the door or email info.tayvhall@gmail.com. Bring your own bottle.
