Argyll’s festival capital all set for seafood extravaganza

-

Tarbert’s annual two-day festival of fun and food is set to return in just a couple of weeks.

Excitement is building around the Loch Fyne-side village, with newly-crowned Tarbert Seafood Festival Queen Chloe Macdonald all set to preside over the festival, ably assisted by princesses Cara Mackie and Caitlin Prentice.

Packed with fun, entertainment and, of course, lots of seafood, this year’s festival theme will be Heroes and Villains.

A familiar face will return to Tarbert to add even more flavour to proceedings as loyal festival supporter and chef Mike Leslie from The Coachman Hotel, Kilsyth returns with his hugely popular cookery demonstrations.

For the second successive year the festival will also welcome back The Clan, Scotland’s cycle stunt team. Riders will perform stunning stunts in what is billed as the ‘Biggest, baddest show in the UK’.

The harbour will be lined with a variety of stalls operated by the local businesses and hotels, showcasing the many local delicacies on offer.

The festival procession of floats through the village, led by the seafood queen and Mid Argyll Pipe Band, is a spectacle of colour and imagination not to be missed. Expect a few heroes - but the villains will be out in force.

Sunday on the fish quay offers a great family day out, with plenty of live music and lots to entertain the kids and adults.

Tarbert has rightfully gained a fabulous reputation as the festival capital of Argyll, with the fantastic seafood festival just one of a number of events hosted by the village’s welcoming inhabitants during the year.

But the seafood festival is one of the best - so don’t miss it.

Tarbert Seafood Festival will be held on Saturday July 7 and Sunday July 8, 2018.
