Maggie retires, but she’s still going to be around

-

The Dochas Centre day trip to Portavadie on June 14 unfortunately did not happen due to the stormy weather that day with ferry cancellations.

This would have been the eighth year that carers would have enjoyed the trip and hospitality provided by the Portavadie team.

The outing was going to provide an opportunity for carers, past and present, along with Dochas staff, to express their thanks and bid a fond farewell to Maggie McLaren, who has retired as the Dochas manager. For the past 10 years, Maggie has led the team in the development of services the centre offers to carers. However, Maggie’s skills are not being lost as she will be taking on a new role as the counselling manager within the centre.

Some of the carers and staff, joined by the new centre manager, Doris Linstead, joined together with Maggie and shared a slice of her delicious retiral cake in celebration.

Nearly 90 carers from Islay, Kintyre and Mid Argyll were looking forward to this annual outing during a week that raises awareness of carer’s issues.

Alternative date

The Portavadie team kindly arranged an alternative date for July 19 but holiday and caring commitments meant that this date has also had to be cancelled.

Everyone at the Dochas Centre would like to give a huge thanks to the Portavadie management team for their continued support and quality service over the past eight years.
