Remembering loved ones with Marie Curie

-

The Marie Curie Lights to Remember service was held at Mid Argyll Community Hospital and Integrated Care Centre on Wednesday December 5.

Supporters and friends were treated to a host of carols and musical numbers from Bar None, accompanied by the talented Stephen Povey, and enjoyed seasonal fare including mince pies and non-alcoholic mulled wine.

Speakers on the night included the chairwoman of the local Marie Curie fundraising group Julie Brown, who talked about the value of the care and support available from the charity within the community and what this means to so many, both directly and indirectly.

Melissa James of Argyll South Pony Club, who holds an annual fundraiser for the charity, gave a short address and had the honour of switch- ing the hospital Christmas tree lights on.

Finally, newly-appointed chief officer for Marie Curie, Joanna McDonald, gave the closing address and thanked everyone for their continued support of the charity within Mid Argyll.

The evening was, as has become customary, hosted by Councillor Douglas Philand and hospital chaplain Raymond Deans.

Mid Argyll Fundraising Group for Marie Curie thanks all of its supporters for their generosity, hard work and donations over the past 12 months and wishes everyone a merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
