A 26-year-old man was stopped about 6pm on Tuesday January 22, and searched by the police in Argyll Street, Lochgilphead. He was allegedly found to be in possession of a small amount of cannabis. The man was charged and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
There was a report of a disturbance in Foulis Road, Inveraray about 10am on Sunday January 27. Police attended and a female, 28, was arrested for assault and breach of the peace. A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal. A 58-year-old man was also charged with minor assault and was issued with a recorded police warning. No-one was seriously injured.
On Thursday January 24, a 23-year-old woman was searched by the police about 5pm in Blarbuie Road, Lochgilphead and found to be in possession of a small amount of cannabis. The woman was charged and issued with a recorded police warning.
Recently telephone fraudsters targeted a retired man in Tarbert, pretending to be from BT Openreach and conned him into downloading software on to his computer and allowing them remote access to his desktop. This allowed them to access various online bank and retail apps, resulting in the theft of money. Police enquiries are continuing into this incident. The man concerned reported that the fraudsters were skilled and persuasive. The public are reminded that they should be extremely wary of unsolicited phone calls, emails, messages or callers to the door. Passwords or sensitive information should never be revealed and people should not download software or allow remote access to their computers when asked during an unsolicited phone call.
