Pipe band reels off prizes

-

Mid Argyll Pipe Band held its annual awards night in the Kilmartin Hotel on Saturday October 5.

Joint winners of the Royal Mail most improved chanter player shield were Euan McCartan and Harry Turner, and this presentation was made at the chanter class on Wednesday evening.

Thom Catterwell was awarded the overall most improved band member and he was presented with the Lewis Wilson memorial shield by Jamie Wilson.

The most improved drummer shield went to Ali Cupples for the most notable progression throughout the season. Lead drummer Graeme McMillan presented the shield to Ali’s mum Morag, as Ali was not able to be present.

Jenny Wright was awarded the windmill trophy for contribution to the band, due to Jenny taking part in the Kiltwalk fundraiser.

Catherine Lang, the band quartermaster, awarded the best dressed trophy to Alfie Campbell for his smart turnout and attention to his uniform.

The ‘just for fun’ best hair competition run on the band’s Facebook and Instagram pages was decided by public vote, and the results were as follows: third place, Stephen Clark; second, Scott McLean; and joint first, Martha Moir and Rhian McCuaig. The prizes were presented by Marina McCuaig and helper Sophie Hall.

The committee would like to thank all the supporters, band members, chanter class members, mums, dads and everyone else for coming along and making it a great night. Thanks also to Richard for the fantastic buffet.
