Success away for Red Star youth teams

-

Red Star 2007s faced a tricky trip away to a strong Cambuslang side. A commanding first half performance would see Star leading 4-0 at halftime with a hat-trick from Gibson and Todd also scoring.

The Lochgilphead boys also started the second half impressively adding another two goals from Green and a great free kick from Semple. Cambuslang created a few chances and were rewarded with three goals. Final score 6-3.

A great result for 2007s, who held their shape and played with a great work rate, closing down Cambuslang at every opportunity. An excellent win and three points.

Also on Sunday February 2, Red Star 2004s were on their travels, with an away game against Palace Park Respect.

Star started well and had the better of the first half with the majority of possession. They played some nice football but unfortunately scored no goals. Nil-nil at half time.

The home team came more into the game in the second half and, although Star were still playing well, the game looked as if it was heading for a no-score draw.

Then it all changed when Palace Park took the lead with a 25-metre screamer and then added a second goal with about three minutes left.

It might have been thought it was game over, but this was not the case.

Caskie pulled one back as he followed a long punt from kickoff that evaded what had been a resolute Palace Park back line up to that point. Then, right on the final whistle, Star had a free kick just outside the Palace Park penalty box. Caskie struck low and hard to beat the keeper and go in off the post.

The final was score 2-2.
