Islay hospitality shines at tourism industry awards
Warm island hospitality has netted an Islay bed and breakfast a top award.
The spotlight shone on individuals and businesses working across Scotland’s tourism industry at the national final of the Scottish Thistle Awards.
Glenegedale House on Islay was among those honoured at the national final of the Scottish Thistle Awards on March 5 when it was named Most Hospitable B&B or Guest House.
The five-star guest house is owned and run by Graeme and Emma Clark and strives to create a unique experience balancing luxury and relaxation that only island life and renowned Scottish hospitality can offer.
With a passion for tourism and a wealth of local knowledge, each guest receives a warm inviting welcome and a unique experience. Judges praised the guest house for its use of island suppliers and for ‘inspiring stories for their guests to go home with’.
The Visit Scotland website describes Glenegedale House as ‘small and select, combining luxurious accommodation with individual service and attention to detail in the glorious setting overlooking Laggan Bay and westwards to the Irish coast’.
Visit Scotland Regional Director David Adams McGilp said: ‘Congratulations to Glenegedale House on this fantastic achievement. It is a well-deserving winner of the Most Hospitable B&B/Guest House and really goes above and beyond to make sure all their guests have a memorable stay in Scotland.’
The 2019/20 Scottish Thistle Awards, in association with Fishers, rewards hotels, restaurants, B&Bs, visitor attractions, business and consumer events and individuals going above and beyond to create a destination and visitor experience worth talking about.
Comedian Craig Hill co-hosted the evening, held at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre, with Heart Radio presenter and former Miss Scotland Jennifer Reoch.
Entertainment was provided by young musician Callum Beattie.
‘Congratulations to Glenegedale House on this fantastic achievement. It is a well-deserving winner.’
