AM-AM title goes to Mid Argyll
A healthy field of 147 golfers fought it out in teams of four - and one of three - for Dunaverty Golf Club’s Glen Scotia Distillery-sponsored AM-AM trophy last Saturday.
The weather was kind on the day, with near perfect golfing conditions, and the course was fantastically turned out by greenkeepers Jonathan Barbour and Campbell MacBrayne. Scoring was low and very close, with nine teams within two shots of the winners.
With a fantastic score of 52, the winning team of Ross Sinclair, Kenny Cameron, Scott Cameron and Roddy MacDonald, from Mid Argyll, took the title by a better inward half from Kevan Gilchrist, Graham Gilchrist, Alan Glendinning and Andy Robertson.
‘A great day was had by all and thanks go to Glen Scotia Distillery and its manager Iain McAlister for their fantastic support,’ said a club spokesperson. ‘Thanks also to all the committee members for organising and running the day, the greenkeepers for the superb condition of the course and The Tea Box, under the stewardship of Rona Burton, for looking after all members and visitors.’
Result: 1 Ross Sinclair, Roddy MacDonald, Kenny Cameron and Scott Cameron, 52, bih; 2 Kevan Gilchrist, Graham Gilchrist, Alan Glendinning and Andy Robertson, 52; 3 Scott MacBrayne, Peter Paterson, Mark Paterson and Grant Grant, 53, best last six.
