Ardrishaig trust renews support for youth football at recent AGM

-

They may be a necessary part of running an organisation, but AGMs are not generally described as entertaining. The recent AGM held by Ardrishaig Community Trust was just that, however, as young players from Lochgilphead Red Star Youth Football Club turned out to showcase their talents. Boys and girls from the 2011 (P6) team were only too happy to put on a demonstration of their ball skills, energy and athleticism in Ardrishaig Public Hall.

The players received a warm round of applause by the audience who enjoyed the demonstration followed by an announcement that Ardrishaig Community Trust has formally agreed to continue to be the main sponsor for the club for the next three years.

Over the previous three years the trust provided valuable financial support to the youth team which allowed them to invest in equipment and match strips for all youth teams.

Lochgilphead Red Star Youth Football Club chairman Stuart Green said: ‘With significant growth in the number of players over this period - from 125 to around 225 players – the funding was crucially important to support this very high growth.

‘The trust has been an excellent partner for the club and we look forward to continuing our friendship.’

Arthur Barclay, chairman of the trust, thanked the young players for coming along to the AGM and demonstrating their skills, adding: ‘We were delighted to play our role in supporting growth in the number of young people in the area to participate in sport. Our board was of the view it would be a natural step to continue that relationship with the club.’
