Easter egg hunts, beach cleans and pizza

Mid Argyll gears up for bumper holiday weekend

Lambs are gambolling in the fields, daffodils are ablaze with colour and Easter bunnies are busy laying eggs in bonnets or something like that.

Churches across Mid Argyll and Kintyre are celebratin­g the season and there is plenty happening across the region to keep youngsters of all ages happy this Easter weekend.

In Ardrishaig, look out for the Easter Egg Hunt - suitable for all ages. Organised jointly by Ardrishaig Community Trust and Ardrishaig Parent and Toddler group, the fun will take place between 10am and 1pm tomorrow (April 16) at Ardrishaig North Hall.

Blarbuie Woodland in Lochgilphe­ad will host an event on Easter Monday April 18. Enjoy a walk at Blarbuie Woodland, with rangers there to help you find your way. Follow a nature discovery trail, a great chance for children to get out and explore, learn and be creative with natural craft ideas. It all starts at 11am.

At West Loch Tarbert, roll up your sleeves tomorrow (Saturday April 16) and join the Action West Loch cleanup of Escart Bay as part of the Keep Scotland Beautiful Spring Clean Scotland 2022 campaign. The beach clean this weekend, between 2pm and 4pm, will be a family Easter event. Litter picking sticks are being provided by the Grab Trust. Gloves will be available if you can’t bring your own and there are plenty sacks.

Easter Sunday, April 17, sees the Furnace Easter Eggstravag­anza, between 1pm and 4pm at Furnace Village Hall and the shop.

Furnace Community Scottish Charitable IO committee along with David and

Cindy of the Furnace Village Stores have plans for a giant raffle and there will be plenty more fun, including stalls, home baking, and Easter egg hunt and tombola.

At the head of Loch Fyne, Fyne Ales is planning a Spring

Fair tomorrow (Saturday April 16) from 10am. There will be fresh beer, pizza, crafters and live music from The Camans from 5pm.

All of the bar income will go to charities operating with and in Ukraine.

The Argyll Beaver Centre at Barrandaim­h will be the venue for a free event (donations welcome) organised by Heart of Argyll Wildlife Organisati­on and Kilmartin Museum.

The Easter egg-stravaganz­a will happen on Monday April 18 from 11am to 4pm. Look out for origami, an owl craft workshop, egg quiz trail, egg painting, egg rolling, and more. Please book ahead by visiting www.argyllbeav­ercentre.co.uk/walks-events so organisers can estimate numbers attending.
