The Kilberry Loop - a fantastic route for cycling enthusiast­s!

The Kilberry Loop Sportive, a 40 mile ride which is organised by the Mid Argyll Triathlon and Cycle Club and registered with British Cycling, has seen upwards of 90 cyclists head to the west coast village to take part in this friendly event since it was first held in 2018.

Now in its fifth year, the sportive starts and ends at The Gather, Tarbert, and is open to cyclists of all abilities. In 2021 the event included a new category for e-bikes which recognised their growing popularity for people who want to take up cycling and who wish to be part of this fun event.

The route itself is testing but the rewards are many, with breathtaki­ng scenery at every turn and for those riders cycling in company and making the most of this enjoyable day, photo opportunit­ies are endless with the perfect view around every corner! And for those cyclists who want to challenge themselves, the route is exciting enough to get the adrenaline flowing.

The Mid Argyll Tri & Cycle Club, the event organiser, is an all inclusive club for athletes and sporting enthusiast­s of all ages and abilities. We wish to promote fun, fellowship and friendship with a dash of competitio­n. The Kilberry Loop is a favourite route of the members.

The club has received financial support from Tarbert Enterprise Company, Tarbert Harbour Authority and William Duncan & Co., Chartered Accountant­s, and new this year, Kilchoman Distillery, for which they are very grateful. Come along and cheer them on on Saturday!
