Co-op says it with flowers for women’s day
Emma Sinclair from Furnace receives her flowers from Jack.
Furnace resident Edith McKellar got an unexpected treat whilst doing her weekly shop on Friday March 8, when Inveraray Co-op store manager, Jack Coggins, presented her with a colourful posy of flowers to mark International Women’s Day.
Edith, 93, was delighted. She said: “What a lovely surprise. I didn’t even know it was International Women’s Day, but I do now. The flowers were beautiful and it really made my day.”
Jack, who has only recently taken up the post at the Inveraray store, said: “This was a lovely way to start getting to know some local Co-op members and I am looking forward to finding other opportunities in the near future.
“We wanted to mark International Women’s Day and celebrate all women’s achievements, and this was a cheerful way of doing that.”
Jack, who has worked for the Co-op for over five years, moved to Inveraray from Dundee.
This is his first post as manager and he is looking forward to the future.
He said, “I do love working for the Co-op and am excited about the move to Inveraray.
“As a popular tourist destination, it will have its own challenges, but local members are its foundation and our community is important.
“I am also looking forward to meeting representatives of this year’s causes – Inveraray Shinty Club and SiMBA, the Simpson’s Memory Box – which are both really good groups to support.”
Other lucky ladies presented with flowers included Sandra Morrison of Inveraray, May McPherson from Cairndow and Lorraine Woodrow from Islay, who was passing through.
