Litter-picking team is back on the streets

-

ASHBOURNE’S team of volunteer litter-busters has finally been able to get back into action following months of lockdown – and their first haul has been a big one.

Ashbourne’s network of good Samaritans headed out together last week for their first socially distanced cleanup and 12 people gathered a mountain of rubbish from around the town centre and the park, including fast-food containers and drinks bottles.

The members, many of whom have been using their one hour per day of exercise to collect litter in their areas during the early stages of the lockdown, are now planning further trips out to tackle as many problem spots in the town as possible in the coming weeks.
