Parts of Dales record fewer than 10 new virus cases

THERE are 20 areas of Derbyshire where there have been fewer than 10 new confirmed Covid-19 cases according to the most recent figures.

The rate of cases in Derbyshire, including Derby, however, is increasing rapidly.

The area with the lowest number of new cases in the week to October 17, was Ashover and New Upton in North East Derbyshire, south of Chesterfie­ld, a district which is in Tier 2, with three new cases.

The areas with the secondlowe­st number of new cases, all with five each, are: Bread

sall, Little Eaton and Stanley Common in Tier 2 Erewash;

Sunny Hill, in Tier 1 Derby; and Boythorpe and Birdholme, in

Tier 2 Chesterfie­ld.

Meanwhile, the areas with the third-lowest number of new cases, all with six each, are: Ashbourne North, Dovedale and Carsington in Tier 1 Derbyshire Dales; Boulton, in Tier 1 Derby; Swanick and Leabrooks and Somercotes and Pye Bridge both in Tier 1 Amber Valley; Bolsover North and Shuttlewoo­d, in Tier 1 Bolsover; and Buxton Burbage and Harpur Hill, and Buxton South and East, both in Tier 1 High Peak.

Hill 5; Boythorpe and Birdholme 5; Ashbourne North, Dovedale and Carsington 6; Boulton 6; Buxton Burbage and Harpur Hill 6; Buxton South and East 6; Somercotes and Pye Bridge 6; Swanick and Leabrooks 6; Ashbourne South 7; Doveridge, Brailsford and Bradley 7; Inkersall Green and Duckmanton 7; Kilburn and Horsley 7; Normanton North and Peartree 7; Swadlincot­e Central 7; Buxton North 8; Central Chesterfie­ld and Stonegrave­ls 9; Swadlincot­e West 9

Glossop in the High Peak, under Tier 2, has seen the highest number of new cases in the most recent available week, to October 17, with 44 recorded.
