WI gives website a revamp as UK emerges from lockdown

-

THE Women’s Institute in Staffordshire has launched a new website to provide information for members and non-members.

The site - www.sfwi.org - marks the start of a new chapter for the Staffordshire federation as the country starts to emerge from lockdown.

On the home page it says: “The WI is a fabulous organisation which plays a unique role in providing women with educational opportunities, the chance to build new skills, to take part in a wide variety of activities and to campaign on issues that matter to them and their communities. The WI is open to all women and an opportunity to make friends for life!”

Helen Newman, federation chairman, said: “Our new website is easy to navigate and has been designed in-house, by ladies for ladies. There is information, help and links to documents for the running of Institutes as well as specific information on the ethos and work of the WI.’

The federation is not new to technology, with its Facebook page having more than 1,000 followers and with meetings and events taking place on Zoom through SFWI Online. Helen added: “The pandemic has changed the way of life for all of us. The WI has adapted by using technology to enable members to continue to be part of a successful organisation that has been shaping society for over 100 years.

“The new website for the Staffordshire federation marks the start of new beginnings as we come out of restrictions into a new way of life.”
