A MAN has died after collapsing on a Derbyshire hillside.

Members of the Derby Mountain Rescue Team, paramedics from East Midlands Ambulance Service and an air ambulance were called out to Madge Hill, near Kniveton, last Thursday.

The mountain rescue team say the man was given CPR at the scene but “could not be resuscitated” and expressed their condolences to the family.

A post on their Facebook page reads: “The team were called out to Madge Hill near Kniveton on Thursday, September 2, to assist East Midlands Ambulance Service after a male had collapsed.

“The man was given CPR at the scene by EMAS and an Air Ambulance crew but unfortunately could not be resuscitated.

“Our thoughts and condolences are with his family and friends.”

Members from the mountain rescue team said it was one of three callouts in three days.

The Facebook post reads: “The second callout was at 9am on Friday morning to assist Derbyshire police with the search for a missing person.

“The team were placed on standby but later stood down. The missing person was subsequently found safe and well.

“The third callout was just after 2pm on Saturday whilst we were out training at Biggin Dale.

“The duty PDMRO controller contacted the team requesting us to attend a 66-year-old female who had fallen sustaining a head injury whilst out walking... in Biggin Dale.

“At about the same time a search party on the hill was alerted to the same incident by the lady’s friends.

“She was treated on scene by the team and carried by stretcher to Milldale, where she was handed over to the care of East Midlands Ambulance Service.”
