ASHBOURNE-BORN music festival Bearded Theory has announced a second wave of artists for its spring gathering, which is taking place at Catton Hall in May.

The new line-up, which includes The Hives, Frank Turner and The Sleeping Souls, add to the already star-studded line-up of Placebo, Patti Smith and The Flaming Lips.

Taking place on May 26-29, the award-winning festival, which started out on its path to success at Bradley Nook Farm in Hulland Ward, says it will be proud to welcome one of the country’s best live acts, Swedish rock band The Hives, who are set to be a Bearded Theory highlight.

Twenty years since they first set the music world on its head with the release of their debut album ‘Barely Legal’ and with countless awards to their name, expect a superhuman live show you won’t want to miss.

Punk-folksinger-songwriter Frank Turner and his band The Sleeping Souls will take to the stage with an impressive eight album back catalogue filled with classic singalongs.

One of the UK’S most successful solo artists of the past decade, Frank Turner is tipped to be one of the most unmissable acts of the weekend.

Feted Yorkshire synthpopers Working Men’s Club burst on to the scene in 2019, securing an army of loyal fans along the way, while their first album was described by the NME as ‘a superb debut’ and scored a 4/5 starred review from The Guardian.

Other artists announced in the second wave include Billy Nomates, singer Tor Maries, Yonaka, Afflecks Palace and Concrete Rose.

Also announced are indie rock trio Little Commets, synth pop band Echo Machine and experimental-punk duo Bob Vylan following a sold-out UK tour.

Other additions include Nottingham punks Do Nothing, indie rock band Jaws, Crystal Palace based two-piece JOHN and Popes of Chillitown who will bring the best of punk, ska and reggae to Derbyshire.

Organisers of the event, which is set to take place from May 26 until May 29 say there are still more acts to announce, as well as the family and kids’ activities, comedy line-up and more.
