Bands line up to do battle for place on Ynot Festival stage

A LINE-UP of acts set to take on a Battle of the Bands during the Ashbourne Town Council Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebratio­ns has been announced.

The live musical entertainm­ent is being organised by the Ynot Festival and compered by Dove Radio’s John Haynes. The Ynot team has chosen six acts who will go head to head in a bid to earn a slot on the stage at the summer festival. The jubilee event will take place on Friday, June 3, on the recreation ground and the live music will be running throughout the afternoon, with the Battle of the Bands serving as the main entertainm­ent.

The bands lined up are: Marseille, Rendacium, The Underclass, Mimosa, Souza and Charlotte Bettson. Music starts at 2.40pm.

A spokesman for the Ynot Festival said: “We think it’s really important that we keep in touch with our local community.

“Ashbourne is our home town and the people of Ashbourne have been going to Y Not since it started.

“This is an amazing opportunit­y for local talent to get a slot amongst some of the biggest names in the music scene this July and we are so happy that Y Not can provide them with this opportunit­y, whilst at the same time bring some fantastic live music to this local event.”

Audiences on the day will be able to vote for their favourite act and be in with the chance of winning free tickets to Ynot Festival, which takes place in Pikehall from July 29.

Other entertainm­ent at the free jubilee celebratio­n event will include fire breathers, jugglers, stilt-walkers and a climbing wall, alongside food and drink on sale and a firework finale.
