New leader chosen for town’s growing branch of the RBL
CHAIRMAN STEPS ASIDE AFTER ARMY PROMOTION
ASHBOURNE’S branch of the Royal British Legion has a new chairperson, after its current leader Adam Fraser-hitchen stepped down because of a new Army role.
Amanda Foster, a chartered engineer, served in the Regular Army for 26 years, in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, and is now a Reserve.
Formerly vice-chairman of the Ashbourne Royal British Legion, Amanda will take over the position left by former chairman Adam, who is stepping down from the role after being promoted to the rank of Brigadier in the Army.
Amanda is also the founder and director of Dragonfly Team Synergy, which delivers leadership training for businesses and bootcamp fitness programmes from purpose-built facilities at Ednaston Park.
She says the branch is facing a bright future.
“I would take this opportunity to say that I am delighted to accept the committee’s invitation to bea come the next chairman,” Amanda said.
“I would also like to say a huge thank you to the president and the former chairman for the excellent work they have delivered to support the development of the branch.
“The branch is in a great place and is now widely recognised and supported across the Ashbourne community.
“Year on year the support for Remembrance and the Poppy Appeal continues to grow.
“Last year particularly is testament to the energy of the committee and its members in furthering the purposes of the legion.
“I absolutely believe this town is truly committed to keeping the memory of the fallen alive – thank you.
“My vision for the branch is to continue to build on supporting and representing the interests of the Armed Forces community in Ashbourne; which includes serving personnel, veterans, and their families.
“My aims are to ensure Remembrance is kept alive in the town and that the sacrifices our brave servicemen and women have made in the name of freedom are never forgotten.
“I am proud to hold this role and will do my utmost to secure and enhance our already high reputation.” Brell Ewart, The branch’s president, said: “We welcome Amanda as the new chairman, knowing that she will continue to build on the foundations that are now well established in our branch thanks to the work of Brigadier Fraser-hitchen and the committee.”
