Two top tourism awards given to a local venue as the Duncombe Arms honoured
THE Duncombe Arms in Ellastone has claimed two of the top awards at last week’s Enjoy Staffordshire Tourism and Good Food Awards 2024 for the second consecutive year.
THE pub itself was crowned ‘Pub of the Year’ out of a line-up of Staffordshire’s best tourism and hospitality businesses, and The Duncombe Arms’ Walnut House also claimed top spot in the ‘Small Hotel of the Year’ category.
Owner Laura Greenall said: “What an amazing evening.
“We are so proud of what we do in our little corner of Staffordshire so to be recognised and win in two categories for the second year in a row really is the icing on the cake.
“Led by our brilliant general manager, James Oddy and fantastic head chef, Scott Law, the team are the reason we are able to do what we do and above all it is every single one of them we want to thank.
“Thank you also to the Enjoy Staffordshire Tourism and Good
Food Awards and Visit England for a wonderful evening at the National Memorial Arboretum and this great honour.”
The Duncombe Arms is a rusticchic pub with rooms in the heart of the countryside that combines the relaxed atmosphere of a loved local pub with high quality British food. Originally an inn dating from the 1850s, it was renovated by Johnny and Laura Greenall, who after driving past the boarded-up pub every day decided to reinstate the pub as the hub of the village.
Located just on the southern edge of The Peak District, The Duncombe Arms offers exceptional walking and beautiful views but without the crowds.
Walnut House offers ten cosy and luxurious bedrooms with the relaxed, home-from-home comfort you’d expect from a country pub, with the added flair and contemporary design of a boutique hotel.
Each room is totally different but all have striking Colefax and Fowler wallpapers and luxurious fabrics that create a balanced eclecticism with a chic contemporary style.
All bathrooms are stocked with Bamford products.
Under Head Chef Scott Law, The Duncombe Arms has cemented its place as a dining destination and, alongside these amazing awards, it has been named best dining pub by The Good Pub
