Sycamore and Mayfield face last day fight for title

ASHBOURNE Town Darts

League top two Sycamore and Mayfield Arms will face each other next week with the title at stake.

An 8-1 win for Mayfield

Arms away to the Bowling Green leaves them two points behind Sycamore, who won 7-2 at home to X-men.

Shaun Coates and Rob Smith both scored six registers and Steve Mellor had a 92 double start for Mayfield, while, for Bowling Green Callum Rowland and Sam Jones both scored three registers, Sam Handley had a 72 double start, Colin Wignall an 82 finish and James Challinor a 72 finish on the bull.

In Sycamore’s win, Paul Williams scored eight registers and had singles legs of 13 and 18 darts.

Billy Upton weighed in with seven registers.

Tyler Burton and Steve Millward both scored four for X-men.

The Cricketers won 7-2 away to Smith’s Tavern.

Sean Milward scored five registers and Richard

Lowe had a 106 finish for the winners, while Colin Redfearn scored six registers and had a 19-dart leg for the hosts.

Paul Barlow celebrated his 60th birthday with eight registers, including two

180s, finishes of 110 and

120 and 15 and 17-dart legs, while Steve Woolliscro­ft added a 99 finish for The Rams in a 6-3 home win over Rose & Crown, for whom Gemma Fletcher scored four registers.

It may not be enough to save The Rams from relegation but they have a chance and their last match is at home to Mayfield C.

Three points ahead of them are Bowling Green and Rose and Crown, while Memorial Arms, who play Bowling Green, are only a further point ahead, so any two of the four could go down.

Edd Wilson hit four registers and Mick Marshall a 99 finish for Memorial

Arms when they came back from 4-2 down against Mayfield C, winning all three doubles and the match 5-4.

Andy Hill scored five registers, including a 180, Carl Wasylyszyn scored five and Gavin Ratcliffe had a 92 finish and a 17-dart leg in his singles for Mayfield C.

BGB won 5-4 on the final doubles away to The Bullets.

Phil Pickering scored five registers for BGB, while

John Matkin had five and

Harrison Mcmullen hit a

180 for The Bullets.

In Division Two, The Wheel, romping away with the title, won 7-2 at home to

Hanging Bridge.

Luke Harrison and John Moon both scored four registers, Harrison also had a 90 double start, Carl Moon had a 20-dart leg and Kieron Moon had a 24-dart leg for the hosts.

Matt Meakin and Archie Whitehead both scored three registers for the visitors.

Andy Chadfield scored three registers and Ryan

Austin hit a 72 finish for Red

Lion in an 8-1 home win against Holly Bush.

Peter Wright had a 108 double start for Holly Bush.

Marcus Lumbard scored four registers for The Pav during their 7-2 win at home against the White Swan.

Big Hitters were away to Royal Oak and won 6-3.

Tom Linton had a 97 double start for the Oak.

Chris Bates and Martin Sheard both scored three registers for Yew Tree when they won 6-3 away to SO Compton.

Alkie Cuthbert hit a 136 double start for the hosts.

Paul Cotton scored four registers for Exservicem­en’s Club as they edged a 5-4 win at home to Crown Inn, for whom Mike Brett scored three registers and had a 19-dart singles.

This Wednesday sees the next round of the Jennings Cup.

Singles are one leg and matches start at 9pm.
