Aidan Silcocks began looking for something small for his son to learn to drive in. “I thought of a Corsa, Fiesta or Clio but, after a bit of research on insurance premiums, decided to look at the Citroën C1, Peugeot 107 and Toyota Aygo triplets.

“We ended up with a 2006 Toyota Aygo Sport with just over 70,000 miles and 12 months’ MOT. It isn’t in pristine condition but is perfect for a learner. My son’s insurance as a learner with Mum and Dad as named drivers, limited to 6000 miles, came to £313. Having passed his test, his additional premium for the remaining four months’ cover was another £364.”
