Year of the horse
I read Andrew Frankel’s article about the ideal driver’s car with interest, especially his childhood preference for Ferrari (16 August).
I worked hard to buy my first 308 in 1992. I now have a 355 GTS, which I am considering replacing with a 458 Spyder but am concerned about where its performance can be appreciated – only on a track. However, I suffer with motion sickness. The 355 GTS provides the optimum performance on the road with the associated sounds and driving pleasure.
My daily drive is a Porsche Macan GTS, which is a really good allrounder too. It sounds like I should wait for the Cayman GT4 to arrive and chop these two in, as I was unceremoniously told where to go when enquiring about a new 911 GT3.
On another note, power-to-weight ratios are seriously distorted by the weight of the occupant(s), which should be added to the vehicle mass before the true PTW is quoted. It adversely affects lighter cars. Andrew Bailey Olney, Buckinghamshire
