Opposites attract

-

At the risk of sounding dreadfully contrary, I have to take issue with the design of the Honda Civic Type R (too much) and BMW M5 (too little).

The lack of an configurable (aka Individual) driving mode in the

Civic Type R is an oversight too. It’s easier to fix than the styling, though, so there’s no reason why Honda shouldn’t do so.

The M5, by contrast, now looks too similar to a 5 Series M Sport for my tastes. I understand how much bespoke rear wheel arches cost, but a bolder rear spoiler wouldn’t have gone amiss. I know the M5’s back story – quiet talk, big stick – but this is just too quiet.

Come on, BMW, let your hair down a little and leave the Q-car stuff to Stuttgart. What price a future 5 Series (F90) M design package? You know they want to… Mike Spencer Via email
