Fur­ther to your ‘JLR Spe­cial Ve­hi­cle Op­er­a­tions di­vi­sion ver­sus the af­ter­mar­ket’ ar­ti­cle in the 16 Au­gust is­sue, I’d like to see an af­ter­mar­ket tuner come up with an al­ter­na­tive re­place­ment tail­gate for the new Land Rover Dis­cov­ery that [de­sign boss] Gerry Mcgovern and his team have, in my opin­ion, mon­u­men­tally screwed up.

I can see what they were try­ing to do – echo­ing the pre­vi­ous gen­er­a­tions with their off­set square num­ber­plate – but the lat­est it­er­a­tion is sim­ply wrong.

So, I’m sorry, Gerry – you can’t be right all the time. I think you should be flat­tered that there are com­pa­nies out there whose busi­nesses and jobs are built around your prod­ucts. John Pen­found An­dover
